FIEBDC-3/2024: what to check before exchanging a BC3 file

FIEBDC publishes the 3/2024 definition and provides a checker. Before accepting a file, identify the version produced by the sender and those the receiving application claims to support. The .bc3 extension alone does not prove that every record is compatible.

Choose a sample estimate with representative chapters, items, units, measurement lines, breakdowns and descriptions. Compare codes, quantities and amounts with the source. If the process includes progress valuations or additional data, test those explicitly: opening a file does not show that all its information survived.

The official definition requires implementations to handle both input and output. Import the sample, work with it, export it and open the result in the destination application. Record differences before automating a recurring exchange or replacing the original file.
